New Exemptions from Section 48 Bar for 3 Skilled Visa Subclasses

If you have had a visa refused or cancelled in Australia, you may be affected by Section 48 of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth). This section prevents certain applicants who have had a visa refused or cancelled in Australia from applying for a further visa from within the country. There are however some visa subclasses which are exempt from the s48 bar. This means that persons affected by an s48 bar can still apply for those prescribed visa subclasses.

In a Joint Media statement, Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced changes to international travel over the coming months including the 7-Day Home quarantine for Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents who are fully vaccinated with a TGA approved vaccine. With vaccination rates edging closer to 70 per cent double vaccination in some jurisdictions over the next week, the government is finalising plans for Australian families to be reunited. Announcements have also been made regarding the recognition of additional vaccines used widely around the world, including India's Covishield.

The Federal Government announce big changes to Partner Visas in 2021

The Federal Government has announced new partner visa changes that will take effect towards the end of 2021. These changes impact the sponsorship element of the partner visa and introduce never before seen English Language requirements for visa applicants.
