Parent Visas

You may be eligible for a parent visa if you have children who are an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen.

There are different types of Parent Visas. When deciding on the right parent visa for you, there are many things to think about. Each visa subclass and pathway have their own unique benefits and considerations.


Contributory: These visas require a larger Visa Application charge however have a shorter processing time.


Non Contributory: These visas do not carry a significant application charge, however have a far longer processing time.


The Temporary Parent Visa (subclass 870) is a separate type of visa. It differs from the Contributory and Non Contributory visas in that it does not lead to permanent residency, although does enable the holder to remain in Australia for 3 or 5 years at a time.
