The Onshore Partner visa is for applicants who are in Australia, and in a de facto or married relationship with their Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Eligible New Zealand citizen partner.

Overview
There is a temporary and permanent component, and applicants are eligible for a bridging visa that allows them to remain onshore while the visa is processing.
About this Visa
When you apply for a partner visa, you apply for both the temporary and the permanent visa at the same time. The temporary 309 visa is granted first. Then, two years later, you will be eligible to apply for the permanent visa.
The two-year waiting period does not apply to couples who have evidence of a long-standing relationship. For example, if you have been in a de facto relationship for a minimum of three years, or if you have a child, two years.
If you are applying for a partner visa for a de facto relationship, you must have been in that relationship for at least 12 months at the time you lodge the application. The 12-month requirement can be waived if you have registered your relationship in your state or territory. Either way, you will need significant evidence of your relationship.
Bridging Visa
Applicants for the offshore visa are generally not eligible for a Bridging visa. Some applicants however, may be eligible for a bridging visa when they arrive onshore on another substantive visa (such as a visitor visa).
Visitor Visa
You may however be able to apply for a visitor visa that allows you to visit your partner. Depending on your country of origin, visitor visas can be difficult to obtain.
